Fauna is a local restaurant serving modern Canadian cuisine. Located on 425 Bank Street, this delightful restaurant’s menu is seasonally-driven, bringing you a different experience every couple of months. Using local ingredients whenever possible, Fauna provides delectable dishes to satisfy your hunger.

ABOUT THE MENU

The menu items at Fauna aren’t only delicious but unique – inspired by their neighbourhood, the places they’ve been, and the things they like to do. Their creative dishes reflect their love for the local community. One such dish is the Swordfish, where the Newfoundland fish meets an Asian twist by being served alongside dashi, soba, leeks, and Tongho.

The Swordfish steak pairs well with the umami-filled dashi soup, a harmony not often combined. The dense and mild fish brings out the flavour of the seafood-based Japanese soup stock with its sweet and savoury taste. The leeks are grilled to perfection – slightly charred on the outside and tender on the inside. The accompanying Tongho soaks the dashi and adds a distinct light Chrysanthemum flavour. Finally, the earthy soba unites the components together. It’s delicious and satisfying – a must-try for sure!

Their meals aren’t the only creative concoction they have. They offer a wide selection of drinks – from natural wines to craft beers to classic and curated cocktails. Their cocktail, Blue Sea, is made with gin, grapefruit, black pepper, cucumber, lemon, and Red Thai chilli – bringing a taste that is both refreshing and tangy. If that made you crave their innovative creations and you’d love some late-night treats, here’s some good news – they are open later in the evening from Thursday to Saturday for drinks!

It is no surprise that a lot of thought and love went into the creation and design of the space. Taking the concept of using sustainable and local products, they worked with amazing local professionals, vendors, and producers over two years to bring the fun interior space Fauna has. You can find details in every element – from branded coasters to their beautiful Zinc bar. They also have a private room that seats up to 24 people available upon reservation.
